The Mile Long Book is a very long garland book that spanned the Missisippi River between the West Side and Downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota on August 9, 2014, and again on July 25, 2015. This community-based project is ongoing. Hundreds of people have contributed pages. This project was funded in part by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council in 2014 and by a Placemaking mini-grant from Springboard for the Arts in 2015. Both grants were received under the auspices of the West Side Community Organization (WSCO) in Saint Paul. It was exhibited at The Minnesota Center for the Book Arts as part of the River: Memory and Metaphor on the Mississippi, March 4—July 10, 2016.
